Here's the message I've received:
''I have been a social salsa dancer for 7-8 years. My passion for dance is starting to decrease. I have thought about taking lessons to improve my dance vocabulary but I do not necessarily want to learn to dance a stylized salsa. I do not want to perform. I do not want to be a carbon copy of a particular teacher or studio. This is why I haven't taken lessons at any particular place for some years now. I think all of the ballroom and performers look very good and are skilled and work hard. They are talented. But it starts to all look the same. I just love to dance because it's a way I can express myself. Not because I want to be fancy. Any advice? (Ps - no I don't get to really travel much and I have had no desire to attend congresses)''

Here's a excerpt:
All right. Hi, this is les from Baila Production Latin dance school. I'm here with Belinda. Hi. So today I want to talk about someone actually who, who wrote me a message through facebook and actually requested if I could talk about her message because I think it's an important message and she just asked to be anonymous and we respect that, but I'm going to actually read the message and we're going to talk about it and comment and hopefully it's going to inspire you or help you. Um, so. Hello. So here's the message. I've been social dancer for seven to eight years. My passion for dance is starting to decrease. I have thought about taking lessons to improve my dance vocabulary, but I do not necessarily want to learn to dance a stylized salsa. I didn't want, I don't, I do not want to perform. I do not want to be a carbon copy of a particular teacher or studio.
This is why I haven't taken lessons at any particular place for some years now. I think all of the ballroom and performers look very good in our skill and work hard. They are talented, but it starts to all look the same. I just love to dance because it's a way I can express myself now because I want to be fancy. Any advice? And then she says, no, I don't really travel much and it'll have no desire to attend congresses. Okay? So first, first thing, um, everybody at any given time are going to be in a slump, could be physical, it could be psychological, it could be you're going to feel like you're, you're plateauing, you're going to feel that you're not moving as fast as you want to. It is maybe a, you know, you have too much expectation and maybe you're just repeating the same things.
You're not feeling expired. It could be many different reasons. Just know that everybody gets them. You know, I, I got him so many times, you know, in my career, and you always feel like I'm doing the same moves and repeating myself, that's the first sign, you know, it's like, oh, I'm not inspired. I'm not good, or whatever thoughts you got. Everybody feels intimate some given time. If they stick to it. The first thing I would suggest is take them with a grain of salt, just know that they exist and you'll get past them and I probably had 20 of them. At least you just, you just let them through and say, oh, whatever, but you know, and then you know that after like let's say couple of weeks or one week, a couple of days you'll feel better now there's a couple of things you can do to speed up the process, right?
So to inspire you, to get moving, to inspire you, to have more creative ideas if you're a performer is to take lessons of different styles and not limiting yourself in salsa necessarily. You can, you can go ballet, you can go African, you can go whatever and it helps your brain to, to understand and to see different moves and it helps you brain to see a different world and just that just you don't have to do anything special. Just take those classes and you'll already better and you'll salsa will come alive again. Okay. That's, that's something I experimented quite often and it helps me to keep going. Not to stick only with one style, a comment you said about worrying about being a carbon copy of another teacher. First of all, it's kind of, it's kind of hard to be a carbon copy of somebody. If I really trying to be a carbon copy of Belinda, it won't work. Okay. I would, I would fail grungy so you know, it just won't happen. So, uh, we are all at take lessons at some point in time, have different styles and the way we develop our style, I think it's through taking lessons of people that we enjoy taking lessons with or we feel that this person's can bring us some.
