Suspect Wanted in Violent Robbery of Elderly Victim.
On January 18, 2017 at approximately 1:30 p.m., LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to the 4900 block of West Blue Diamond Road to investigate reports of an attempted robbery which occurred to an elderly female outside a business. Officers arrived and made contact with the victim, who was suffering from apparent bruising and abrasions to her head sustained during the incident. Medical personnel transported the victim to St. Rose San Martin Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation initiated by the Enterprise Area Command Patrol Investigations Section indicated the victim was followed by a suspect as she was approaching the business, however the suspect waited outside for the victim to exit. As the elderly victim exited the business and began walking to her vehicle, the suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and pulled her violently to the ground. The suspect entered an awaiting vehicle and fled the parking lot onto West Blue Diamond Road.
The suspect can only be described as a young Black male, approximately 5’10” tall, weighing 150 pounds, with a tapered afro-style haircut. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt.
